BII begins

Building India Inc., a 2 day event being held at our college to discuss about India as a Superbrand began today. In the inaugural session we got to hear eminent columnist and author, Mr. Gurcharan Das which was truly a remarkable experience in itself. He left the audience enthralled with his witty quotes and projections about India’s growth. he had begun his address on a stunning note when he remarked – “Prosperity will spread in India but happiness will not until we fix governance”. He stressed the importance of determination and humility as hallmarks in the making of a great manager. Poverty can only be tackled by economic growth, this was his sentiment as he advocated the brilliant growth model adopted by India which he called unique since it is domestic led, based on consumption and hi tech capital intensive and which also makes it somewhat insulated and less vulnerable. He also stressed the importance of good governance and was sarcastic about the present state, which he aptly put into words as – “ Economy grows at night when government is asleep.”

The inaugural session left the audience asking for more…. Lets wait and watch what the Day 2 holds!!
