Here ends the journey of another batch on this platform called DMS. Some of us loved this place, some of us hated. Then, there was a third creed that tried to help people transcend from one of these to the other. Life has been different from what it ever was, and has left us all into a newer, different life. What we now realise when we look back at the two years we have spent here is that no matter how you come into an MBA, and what you expect of it, dont expect yourself to be the same when you go out of it. Some of us learn and go, some unlearn and go, but in the end we have to change and go. The metamorphosis is apparent in some, and not so apparent in some. And then there is a third creed who try not to show any metamorphosis, but the efforts turn futile in a pretty nascent stage.
What we think of what we have done here, how we have done it is always an endearing tale worth writing a book over, so let us keep this for just the flavor and the recipe shall come later. There was fun, there was joy, there was hatred, anxiety, you name it, we had it. So, when you walk out of a canvas filled with such a gamut of emotions, which one would you pick and carry with you? Which would be that string that you shall pull on for eternity? None. Educational institutions are such. These are things not to be asked at a gun-point, these are things that should come out of a vantage point. Let people explore things, explore selves and contemplate on what has been and what shall be, and there shall definitely be a moment when everyone shall converge on to this canvas and say that this is the glitter of color they always wanted to be in.
Be it the pedestal fans, or girls with innumerable fans, the answers now on what we shall miss are of no importance, for what can you say what you shall miss at a home. A friend mentioned to me the other day that a local guardian’s place is good, but then however good it is, it isnt home. That is exactly the same feeling a batch stepping out carries. We know we are going to good places, we know we are bound to do good things, but then we are leaving an identity behind to etch out a new one out of nowhere. For those who have seen The Terminal, the feeling of moving out of a college is pretty much the same. You lose your identity, the sense of belonging is there, but where is it that you want to belong to?
Then again, this is the quandary which an MBA prepares you for. With an amalgamated rendezvous of two years with a batch of seniors - who have been good help - and a batch of juniors - who have shown tremendous spirit and enthusiasm - we go out as a batch with a new perspective of the old world. It is this paradox of identity that an MBA prepares you to go out into the world and resolve, and that with the learning from people of three batches, of different walks of life, of different mindsets et al. An MBA makes you pose all these most of the times out-of-the-place questions, and then smirk at them and walk valiantly towards them? If that really is what MBA is meant for, full marks for DMS.
Thank you friends and miss you, DMS!
Adieu
